Niners Sign Tall, Productive Canadian Football League Receiver
In college, wide receiver Eric Rogers was a record-breaker. He set school marks for receptions, yards and scoring. He also was a triple jumper good enough to reach the NCAA championship meet and finish third in 2011.But that college was Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks and Rogers' competition was in the NCAA's Division III ranks, so despite his production, size (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) and athletic ability, Rogers wasn't drafted into the NFL. And, when he tried out with the Dallas Cowboys in 2013, he quickly was cut.But now Rogers is the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers after an excellent stint in the Canadian Football League, and he's an intriguing prospect for new head coach Chip Kelly.Last season while playing for the Calgary Stampeders, Rogers had 87 catches for 1,448 yards and 10 touchdowns. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be wearing No. 1 the next time he steps onto the football field, leaving behind his No. 19 jersey. It's an unfortunate change for any fan who previously invested in a Deebo jersey—unless they consider it a throwback.
Newly signed wide receiver Trent Taylor quickly claimed No. 19 after rejoining the team on a one-year deal following three seasons elsewhere. Taylor last wore No. 15 with the 49ers, a number currently worn by wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Taylor also wore No. 81 with the team.

With only nine days remaining until the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager revealed his first mock draft of the year. While most might expect the San Francisco 49ers to target an offensive lineman, Schrager has the team bolstering its wide receiver corps with an SEC talent.
Schrager has the 49ers using the No. 31 overall pick to select former Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey, whose 2023 campaign with the Bulldogs was limited by back and ankle injuries.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
