Report: 49ers’ interest in Shanahan intensifies as Coughlin talks with Eagles

The 49ers interviewed Shanahan on Wednesday and their interest in him has since "ramped up considerably," the NFL Network reported. Talks between the Eagles and Coughlin have "intensified" and they are engaged in ongoing discussions after Coughlin interviewed with the team Monday, according to the NFL Network. Unlike Coughlin, Shanahan, who has spent the past 20 seasons as the head coach of the Jaguars and Giants, Shanahan hasn't been in the NFL since he was fired after a 3-13 season in Washington in 2013. Two other possible candidates for the 49ers' job are former Eagles head coach and Chip Kelly and Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, the latter of whom has interviewed with the 49ers and Tampa Bay.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently shared his insights on the situation surrounding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during an appearance on the network's "NFL Live" show. Schefter clarified that while Aiyuk would like to remain with the 49ers, his priority is securing a contract that reflects his value, regardless of the team.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will be present today as the team reports for the start of its offseason program. Purdy was a little early, as he hosted a youth football camp over the weekend.
