Report: 49ers to interview Browns OC DeFilippo
Jan 8, 2016 at 11:08 AM
• --
The 49ers will interview Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo today, ESPN reported. DeFilippo, 37, has spent just one season of his 11-year NFL career as a coordinator and his only other known interview is for the Rams offensive-coordinator position. Given that, the 49ers' interest is curious since general manager Trent Baalke suggested they are seeking an experienced head coach to replace Jim Tomsula, who had never been an NFL coordinator before he was promoted from defensive-line coach last year. DeFilippo could be familiar to the 49ers after he recently spent five seasons as the quarterbacks coach at San Jose State (2010-11) and with the Raiders (2012-14).
