Silver lining: Blaine Gabbert good in loss to Seahawks

Nov 22, 2015 at 10:41 PM--

Gabbert completed 22 of 34 passes for 264 yards, posted a 98.2 passer rating and fired a 19-yard touchdown to tight end Vance McDonald. Kaepernick has completed 53 percent of his passes, thrown two touchdowns and six interceptions, and posted a 55.2 passer rating in four starts in Seattle. Kaepernick was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a shoulder injury, which means Gabbert is the unquestioned starter for the rest of the season. Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey was carted off with a non-contact knee injury on the Seahawks' first play. Rookie first-round pick Arik Armstead received more playing time in Dorsey's absence and had a personal-high six tackles and a quarterback hit. Cornerback Marcus Cromartie, who was promoted from the practice squad this month, replaced starter Kenneth Acker in the third quarter. … Right guard Andrew Tiller made his first career start and played every offensive snap. Wide receiver Jerome Simpson and defensive tackle Tank Carradine were among the 49ers' inactive players.
