Just past the halfway point of the 49ers season, linebacker NaVorro Bowman is now playing like … NaVorro Bowman.In Sunday's victory over the visiting Atlanta Falcons, the inside linebacker, in his comeback season from knee surgery and a long rehab, roamed from sideline to sideline and was incredibly active in helping to limit the NFL's leading rusher, Devonta Freeman, to just 12 yards on 12 carries.He had seven tackles (tied for the team lead) and added a sack of Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.After missing the entire 2014 season, Bowman finally appears to be the same All-Pro player he was before his injury. Through nine games he has 65 tackles, 25 assists and two sacks.With so many losses of veteran defenders before this season began – Justin Smith and Ray McDonald up front and linebackers Patrick Willis and Aldon Smith – Bowman said it's taken time for the new group of younger players to come together. The San Francisco 49ers are welcoming former Arizona wide receiver Jacob Cowing for a pre-draft visit as NFL teams finalize their evaluations ahead of the draft deadline. News of the visit comes from Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston.
During his 2023 senior season, Cowing registered 90 receptions for 848 yards and 13 touchdowns in 13 games, per Sports Reference. His best statistical season came in 2021 at UTEP, when he amassed a career-high 1,354 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, averaging an impressive 19.6 yards per catch. Cowing followed that up with a 1,034-yard, seven-touchdown campaign in 2022 after transferring to Arizona.
