49ers already answering questions if Colin Kaepernick is still their starter

The San Francisco 49ers had first and goal on the 7-yard line in Super Bowl XLVII. With a little better play call over the next four downs, or a little better pass to Michael Crabtree in the end zone on fourth down, Colin Kaepernick would have been a 49ers hero forever. And it was just two seasons ago that Kaepernick had the 49ers on the verge of back-to-back NFC championships, and then Richard Sherman tipped a pass that was intercepted to send the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl. Those days seem long ago. Just 19 regular-season games later and there are questions if Kaepernick should even still be the 49ers' starting quarterback. After Kaepernick threw four interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns by the Arizona Cardinals, coach Jim Tomsula had to re-affirm that Kaepernick is his starter."I've had no thoughts of him not being our quarterback," Tomsula said, via Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group. "He's our quarterback"You can ask anything at a press conference; just because Tomsula was asked and dismissed the line of questioning means little. But it's not like the NFL world hasn't noticed that Kaepernick has taken a very steep fall since January of 2014....

By Marc Adams

According to NFL Insider, Benjamin Allbright, the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, to add him as a weapon for QB Russell Wilson. The Steelers added Wilson earlier this offseason after the Denver Broncos decided to move on from him. Aiyuk, if paired with Steelers WR George Pickens, would give Wilson two dangerous threats in the passing game.

Rapoport: 49ers send clear message to teams inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk
By David Bonilla
Apr 16
Ian Rapoport didn't offer much of an update on the ongoing contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFL insider emphasized one thing: The team is not entertaining trade discussions at this juncture.
Reacting to Aiyuk's decision to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, Rapoport couldn't help but chuckle at the latest development. This practice has become commonplace among players who are unhappy with their contract situations. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel similarly took this action in 2022 before requesting to be traded just before the draft.
Things have yet to escalate that far with Aiyuk, but Rapoport sees his
