Just imagine Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer's reaction when he watches tape of Sunday's 49ers-Steelers game, in which Ben Roethlisberger repeatedly rained long passes over San Francisco cornerbacks, safeties and linebackers.Contrary to this conversation, the 49ers allowed six pass plays of 28 yards or longer, including four of 41-plus yards, in their 43-18 defeat to the Steelers.Five of those plays came on third down (with the Steelers needing anywhere from 2 to 10 yards), as San Francisco crowded "the box" in an effort to prevent Pittsburgh from picking up the first down.Another area the 49ers need to improve is their pass rush, because they didn't register a single sack or hit of Roethlisberger."That's the NFL," defensive end Glenn Dorsey said.Tomsula didn't offer much insight as to what caused the 49ers' breakdowns Sunday, or whether their inexperience on defense played a role.Tomsula subsequently was asked about the 49ers' biggest play, a 75-yard touchdown pass from Colin Kaepernick to Torrey Smith. In a rare moment for any football coach, Tomsula ducked the invitation to offer a few positive words about his team.Tomsula doesn't expect any of the players injured Sunday to...

Analyst Dane Brugler recently revealed his seven-round mock draft for The Athletic, forecasting all 257 selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, set to kick off next week. "Piecing together a mock like this is time consuming, but I enjoy the exercise, because it allows me to focus on each team's needs, organizational trends and prospect-team pairings that make sense based on '30' visits, league buzz and overall interest," Brugler wrote. Most expect the 49ers to address the trenches early in the draft, and Brugler has the team doing that. It's just not on the offensive side of the football. In fact, Brugler doesn't have San Francisco

Malachi Corley has been likened to versatile San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel. What does Corley, the former Western Kentucky wide receiver, think about the prospect of joining Samuel and the rest of the 49ers' receiving corps? It's a possibility. Corley is expected to be drafted in the second or third round this week and recently visited the team in Santa Clara. Could it be the 49ers calling his name? While 49ers fans hope to see Aiyuk remain with the team, negotiations for

Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that." While Lynch didn't elaborate on the conversations occurring behind closed doors, Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a potential trade remains a
