Norv Turner discusses interview with Cowboys

Jan 28, 2007 at 5:03 PM--

Following his interview for the head coach job with the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator spoke with the media.

"The first thing is, it was really exciting for me. It’s the first time I’ve been in this building since I was apart of this organization many years ago. We talked a little bit about everything, it’s a great opportunity, its one of the great organizations in all of sports. I had a chance to visit with Jerry and get a real good idea of what he’s thinking,” Turner said.

When asked about being the front runner for the job, Turner said, “I think the guys who have come in and talked are very qualified. I want a chance to come in and talk and I know what Jerry is looking for and its certainly as big a decision as you can make. I’m excited I had a chance to visit.”

Turner also spoke with former Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells regarding the current Cowboys players and where they are at. The Cowboys have not yet made a decision and Turner has already started heading back to the Bay Area.

Multiple sources within the Dallas media have already stated that Turner is the leading candidate for the Cowboys' head coaching job and that he will most likely receive an offer sometime tomorrow.

On Friday, the 49ers made a lucrative bid to retain Turner as their offensive coordinator. Details of that offer have not been made available.
