Eric Mangini made a name for himself in the NFL as a defensive coach, particularly with the New England Patriots. For six seasons he was defensive backs coach or the offensive coordinator for head coach Bill Belichick.That paid off in a couple of head coaching opportunities that didn't end well, with the Jets and Browns.That's when Mangini took a big turn in his career, moving to offense with the 49ers. In 2013 he was an offensive consultant for head coach Jim Harbaugh. Last year, he was tight ends coach.Now Mangini has returned to defense as the coordinator on Jim Tomsula's new staff. As customary, NFL teams engage in preliminary discussions about potential draft trades during owner meetings. The San Francisco 49ers currently hold the No. 31 spot in the first round but appear receptive to moving either up or down. The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday night.

When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that."
Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that."

Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction.
