49ers meet with TE Clive Walford at NFL Scouting Combine

Feb 19, 2015 at 12:51 PM--

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers are meeting with Miami tight end Clive Walford at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock has spoken highly of Walford, who is 6'4" and 258 lbs, and called him "the most explosive tight end in this year's draft."

At Miami, in addition to the normal tight end position, Walford lined up in the slot and out wide. He has great speed for a player of his size.

Walford had 44 receptions for 676 yards with seven touchdown receptions in 2014. He had 14 touchdown receptions, averaging 14.5 yards per catch, over his career at Miami.

General manager Trent Baalke said yesterday that tight end Vernon Davis would return to the team. In 2014, Davis had career low receiving yards (245) and tied a career low in touchdowns (2). He also had the fewest receptions since his rookie season with the 49ers in 2006.

The 49ers have the 15th overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.
