Baalke Excited by Kaepernick’s Offseason Work
Colin Kaepernick has mostly been absent from the 49ers scene this offseason. While the team has been busy putting together a new coaching staff and general manager Trent Baalke and his staff have been getting ready for this week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Kaepernick has been in Arizona working with former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner and other coaches on his skills. The quarterback-immersion program has covered everything from reading defenses to throwing mechanics. And, it's something Baalke, for one, has been very impressed with. As the Niners head toward a new season, it sounds as if Baalke is loving his quarterback's offseason diligence. "Colin is working his tail off," Baalke told the media Wednesday at the Combine. Huge question marks arose last season about Kaepernick after the young QB seemed to regress. As the 49ers struggled, so did Kaepernick. He was sacked 52 times and his interceptions went up and his TD passes went down. But Baalke is confident that Kaepernick will get back on track. "I know he's working awfully hard," Baalke said. 49ers local pro day: These 44 players will work out in Santa Clara

The San Francisco 49ers are holding their local pro day today at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The team has released the full roster of participants.
An NFL local pro day is an event hosted by teams to allow prospects with ties to the local area to showcase their skills in front of team personnel. These prospects typically hail from nearby colleges or have some other connection to the region where the team is based. Head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch, and a contingent of coaches, executives, and scouts will be on hand to evaluate prospective draftees during the 49ers' local pro day.

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.
The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
