Mike Holmgren reportedly interested in 49ers head coaching job

Dec 26, 2014 at 11:40 AM--

CSN Philly is reporting that Mike Holmgren is interested in the San Francisco 49ers head coaching job. He is said to be interested simply in coaching and not a general manager or personnel position at this point in his life.

Holmgren has not been a head coach since the 2008 season with the Seattle Seahawks. He has won three NFC championships and a Super Bowl as a head coach. He served as the 49ers quarterback coach from 1986 to 1988 and as the offensive coordinator from 1989 to 1991.

It it is unknown how interested the 49ers would be in Holmgren.

The 49ers and current head coach Jim Harbaugh are expected to part ways within 24 to 48 hours following the team's game against the Arizona Cardinals in Santa Clara on Sunday.

Mia O'Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, was the first to link San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. A new report from O'Brien sheds light on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option. According to O'Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. However, it seems this asking price was deemed too high for the Jaguars, who would have had to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
