Niners Need to Play Both Halves This Time

Sep 26, 2014 at 9:15 AM--

After two straight losses, the 49ers have learned a few things. No. 1 on the list might be that finishing strong may be much more important than getting off to a fast start. As the 1-2 49ers get set to play the 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles Sunday at Levi's Stadium, the Niners rank as one of the NFL's most baffling teams. In the first half, they've been dominant. In the second half, they've been dominated. According to ESPN.com, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick leads the NFL with a 97.8 total quarterback rating in the first quarter. But that number falls to 34.5 over the final three quarters. The 49ers are the only team in the NFL yet to score a second-half touchdown. If the 49ers hope to avoid their first three-game losing streak since Jim Harbaugh became head coach in 2011, San Francisco's offense is going to have to be much more efficient throughout the game, and the secondary is going to have to clamp down on the Eagles' strong passing game. Eagles QB Nick Foles has had three consecutive 300-yard games, and Philly's air attack ranks No. 2 in the NFL. One thing the 49ers need to do Sunday to put the clamps on Foles is to put pressure on him, but so far through three games the...

We're just 10 days away from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft. While many gain more confidence about their projections for the top of the first round, the picture of what might happen further down remains murky. Most predict the San Francisco 49ers will use their first selection, No. 31 overall, on an offensive lineman. However, an early run on the position may alter those plans. The 49ers may address another position, or they may have to move up to secure a top prospect. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates recently revealed a joint three-round mock draft, examining the top 100 selections and forecasting

Draft upgrades: 49ers' biggest need is obvious

By David Bonilla
Apr 22

The San Francisco 49ers mainly focused on fortifying their defense in free agency, leaving many to believe that the 2024 NFL Draft will be their chance to upgrade the offensive line. Most mock drafts predict the 49ers will select the best offensive tackle available to bolster the line's weak link—the right side—and potentially provide a succession plan for 35-year-old left tackle Trent Williams. Pro Football Focus recently examined each team's biggest need heading into the draft's first round and unsurprisingly listed offensive line for the 49ers. "The 49ers likely won't have the luxury of selecting the top offensive lineman with the 31st pick, but they can still find a quality player to improve a unit that was inconsistent in pass

By David Bonilla
2 hrs

Malachi Corley has been likened to versatile San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel. What does Corley, the former Western Kentucky wide receiver, think about the prospect of joining Samuel and the rest of the 49ers' receiving corps? It's a possibility. Corley is expected to be drafted in the second or third round this week and recently visited the team in Santa Clara. Could it be the 49ers calling his name? "Put me out there with Deebo," Corley recently told Kay Adams on the "Up and Adams" show. "Deebo, left, Malachi, right, [Brandon] Aiyuk, [Christian] McCaffrey down the middle." While 49ers fans hope to see Aiyuk remain with the team, negotiations for
