Nolan dismisses Billy Davis rumor

Oct 2, 2006 at 4:28 PM--

Today, San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan dismissed the internet rumor started by ProFootballTalk.

The rumor stated the following:

In the wake of a 41-0 trouncing by the Kansas City Chiefs, talk is intensifying in league circles that Niners defensive coordinator Billy Davis will be fired at the end of the season, if not sooner.

Of course, prior to the 49ers preaseason matchup with the Oakland Raiders, Nolan dismissed rumors that the team was looking to trade former 49ers running back running back Kevan Barlow. Barlow, now with the New York Jets, was traded within days of that dismissal.
