49ers Mock Draft 2.0
Let's do a mock draft for the 49ers first 3 rounds.
Round 1 - Trade pick #30 of round 1, pick #29 or round 2, and 2015 first round pick to Tennesse for pick #11, and pick #10 of round 6.
With pick #11 of the first round - Sammy Watkins - Wide Receiver, Clemson - The 49ers make a move up for an explosive playmaker. Experts compare Watkins to Torrey Smith of the Ravens and Percy Harvin of the Seahawks.
Round 2 - With pick #24 of the second round - Pierre Desir - Cornerback, Lindenwood - Desir put up a stand out performance at the Senior Bowl. At 6'1", Desir has experience in a variety of defensive schemes and finished his four year collegiate career with 25 interceptions.
Round 3 - Trade pick #13 of round 3, to Chicago in exchange for pick #18 of round 3, pick #17 of round 4 and pick #7 of round 6.
With pick #18 of the third round - Weston Richburg - Center, Colorado State - Like Desir, Richburg was a standout at the Senior Bowl. The 6'3", 300 pound center had scouts buzzing with his toughness and will provide competition for the starting center job.
With pick #30 of the third round - Anthony Johnson - Defensive Tackle, LSU - Will push Quinton Dial for a spot in the defensive line rotation.
With pick #36 of the third round - Donte Moncrief - WR, Mississippi - As a 21-year-old rookie Moncrief will have time to develop and compete with Jonathan Baldwin for the final WR spot on the 2014 roster.

I like that Watkins pick but no way he lasts until 11. He should be gone by #5. Here are my picks; trade #1 and #3 (DAL) for Dee Ford. Trade #2 and future 2nd to move up and get Paul Richardson the 2nd best WR in the draft. Trade Crabtree for a 3rd and future 2nd. Take P. Desir, #2 (KC). Trade future 2nd for Jimmie Ward (S). #3 for J. Huff, 2nd #3 for J Herron and final #3 for G Atkinson (RB/WR). #4 Khari Fortt. #5 C. Lyerla (TE/FB). #6 Demitri Goodson (DB). Jack, you sold me on P. Desir, even though he's small school I would take a chance on him.

That we will most likely lose crabtree and the best LG in football, with vernon davis contract coming up soon. But if we got manziel we wont win a superbowl this year ( not that we will with kapernick) but we keep that low cap number at qb and continue spending xtra cap on building a team around our future... Trade kap to browns for #4 get j football and at 30 grab a wr.. We will make playoffs for bext 5 years and win 2 superbowls... # get brave balke

Richard Sherman went in the 5th round from Stanford where JH turned him from receiver to corner, was he still coaching Stanford when he was drafted?
Except for 2012 the draft has worked out fairly well for a team that uses the draft and a few select players from FA (Sorry N Asamoua, sp?) I mean hard to argue with being relevant again!

Jack Hammer has zero credibility if he thinks Watkins will be available outside the top ten. Honestly. He was one of the best prospects to come through in the last decade. I know what your thinking, "Crabtree fell when we got him before", but that was different. He had some red flags (and we have witnessed those come true with injuries and a contract holdout). There is no such thing as a sure thing (ever), but Watkins is about as close as it gets.

Only one problem: Sammy Watkins won't make it past the first 5 picks. I think that they have a better shot of trading with Atlanta or Tampa Bay and grabbing Mike Evans.

I only see around 5 guys making roster since we are so stacked-with that being said. We need top CB and top WR. Round 1 CB Verret,Roby, fuller or Dennard if he falls.Round 2 Benjimin, Lattimer,Beckem jr,. We need 2 good corners and 2 wr out of first 3 rounds, then take a LB and a Saftey.Trade all other picks we can because they not gonna make stacked team anyways

Trade down out of the 1st round (30) for a mid 2nd (early 40's) and 3rd round pick (80's-90's range). (Trade the original 2nd (56) and 5th (170) and move up in the 2nd round (early 40's). Trade the 2nd (61) and the 4th round picks (129) for a mid 2nd rounder. Trade (2) of the (4) 3rd round pics away for next years draft. Hopefully, the draft could look like this: (3) 2nd round pics in the 40's. (2) 3rd round pics (77-100) and (3) 7th round pics, plus (2) extra 2nd round pics next year.

Baalke has been quoted as not believing in the "one great player away from a Super Bowl win". I could see him trading up to #25 - maybe-but more likely to trade down for more seconds and thirds if the guy they want at #30 isn't there. He would shoot himself in the head before trading away a future #1. More likely he'd trade for someone else's future #1. Lots of desperate teams out there. Baalke will play them like a fiddle.

The best deal. Move up to take two first round draft picks. Give up both second round choices. One third round choice, and give away ffith round. Next years second round would sweeten the deal as well. The Niners only have two more good years to make it to the SuperBowl. They need to take a Corner and wide receiver, immediatley. Now that Cuuliver may be suspended, it will be awful in the backfield. Again, if any reciever get hurt, OH BOY.

9ers should draft first and 75% of responders said a CB
1st and then a WR 2nd! Odds are 9ers will trade down in
first round for additional 2-3 Round picks, using them to
get players they want!!

so your saying you would not like clowney at #2 or watkins and get gilbert at #13 and we would still have a 2.3.5.7 round picks for giving up next years first round what will be in the range of 25th-32th pick and the other picks we give up this year think about it.

So call me crazy but what about this? trade for the rams 2 and 13th pics this year get the best WR & CB in the draft and give them our first round pick this year and next year. also give them our 2rd and two 3rd round picks and 4 round and also 7 round pick so that would give us #2 #13 #61 #94 #170 and then we would have 2 7th round picks left we can trade and give away.

I'd do this if Watkins were to fall to 11, but everything I read indicates that would be unlikely. It might still be worth it for evans though. Any reason to suspect Tennessee is looking to deal?
I've been thinking about what we could get back for Crabtree considering his contract situation. If the offer was a mid first plus a first rounder in 2015 for Crabby and the 61 pick, I think you have to do it. Would that be close to his value and who might be interested, Dallas?

i disagree with a couple of the guys you picked, nice need based drafting though, if we move up to 11 you gotta fill a need that is most pressing and with this culliver nonsense justin gilbert would be my pick, and i don't particularly like drafting Desir that high because he is a developmental player not someone with immediate help potential, would rather have a second tier receiver like Devante adams at that spot and then also i like travis swanson better than Richburg he has experience against much better competition in the SEC and he has experience playing in a run heavy pro style system at Arkansas he would be nice insurance policy if kilgore doesn't work out.

I agree with "Gunner49" and want to hear why you think it would take a #1, #2, and a future #1 to get to pick #11 (when it would definitely get us into the 5-8 range. See-Falcons 2011) I want to hear why Sammy Watkins falls to 11. Can you really explain any of this?

This sounds like something Sydney Mayhew would have written. Complete, utter nonsense. No way Baalke trades away this many picks and no way Watkins falls to 11.
Also, you apparently haven't been reading the papers. The Niners needed a CB in the worse way before Culliver lost his mind this weekend. Now they need two of them. 1 guy from Linderwood (is that a kindergarten?) isn't going to get it done.

I have no doubts we'll see Baalke do some trading up...but it's more likely to be in the 2nd rd. He could also trade out of #30 to get a 3rd 2nd rounder. BL: there are plenty of quality WR's and CB's. No need to spend 3 picks to get Watkins. Besides w/Crabtree's Niner future uncertain and Boldin only signed for 2 yrs, Baalke needs to prepare for their departure. Standing pat or trading out of #30 he could arguably snare Matthews and Adams or a comparable "big" WR. Room to get a speedster later with a guy like Herron. I like Desir, but Baalke has to get 2 quality WR's and CB's with his first 6 picks. Forget the C, don't need him. Get that other big-time instead...much bigger need. CBMoncrief won't still be on the board that deep in the 3rd rd.

This a deep CB draft! Let's not get too excited with the latest small college DB. Pierre Desir is intriguing but a 2nd round pick? Point is that with 2 No1 and a 2 you should move all the way up to pick 7. Not sure Watkins is that once in every five year play worth trading up for. Is he as good as Julio Jones? Was Julio Jones worth the picks?

Others have pointed out, Sammy Watkins (top-5 talent) will not be there at the 11th pick. At 11th, you're likely targeting Mike Evans... the question then becomes are you giving up too much?...
Desir is more like a 4th round pick based on most scouts' positional rankings. Desir is ranked about the 13th best CB, so to take him in the 2nd round is not that smart. Just to name a few CBs that might be ranked ahead of him with similar built: Marcus Roberson, Aaron Colvin, Jaylin Watkins, Antone Exum. Did I miss something that shot up Desir's value in the draft?

Trade up by all means, but don't lose next year's first. This is a deep draft, and next year looks to be deep as well, so having firsts is crucial

No way SF gives up this many choices to move up to pick 11. Round 1, pick 11 has a chart value of 1250 points. SF's Round 1, pick 30 has a chart value of 620 points. To make up the point value, you can package Round 2, pick 56 at 340 points and Round 2, pick 61 at 292 points. Those three picks total 1252 points. Throwing in 590 to 620 point round 1 pick in 2015 makes no sense given the point total could be 1532 or more. The total point value you propose should be enough to move into Tampa Bay's spot at pick 7. At that spot, I'd pick Mike Evans if Sammy Watkins is gone.

Sammy Watkins will not last until the 11th pick. Wishful thinking. You could trade your 1st 2nd and 3rd and a 1st or 2nd next year to get into the Top 10. I like the Desir pick and maybe the S Bucannon with one of the 2s or 3s.
