49ers officially add safety Antoine Bethea

Mar 12, 2014 at 12:54 PM--

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area (@MaioccoCSN), free agent safety Antoine Bethea has passed his physical and has been officially added to the San Francisco 49ers.

Bethea was drafted in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Colts. In his eight seasons with the Colts, Bethea has had 806 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 14 interceptions. However, in the past three seasons, he has only had 2 interceptions. Both of those were in 2013.

Antoine Bethea replaces the departed Donte Whitner, who agreed to terms with the Cleveland Browns yesterday.

Rotoworld has Bethea listed as the fourth best available safety in free agency, right behind Whitner.

Welcome aboard.

Here is a Vine video of Bethea signing his contract.
