Free agency starts Tuesday.The San Francisco 49ers' main priorities are trying to get deals done with safety Donte Whitner, who the New York Jets reportedly are interested in, cornerback Tarell Brown and kicker Phil Dawson. While the team would like to re-sign them, it is very possible all will test the open market starting Tuesday afternoon. Last week the team signed their top free-agent priority, receiver Anquan Boldin. His salary-cap number for 2014 will be $3.

General manager John Lynch addressed reporters today at the NFL owners meetings, emphasizing the team's active negotiations for a contract extension with Aiyuk, expressing hope for a mutual agreement. Lynch made two other points clear: The 49ers are not currently in trade discussions with other teams and are open to allowing Aiyuk to play on his fifth-year option. Joshua Dobbs became the latest addition to the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback room after agreeing to a one-year contract with the team on Monday. Dobbs, 28, has 2,920 passing yards in 21 games (14 starts) with 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in seven NFL seasons.
