Sunday, the 49ers were beating the St. Louis Rams. Monday, they suited up to play Santa Claus. As part of the 49ers' annual "Holiday Cheer Program," players paired up with a child from a low-income family with the goal of spending a $300 Visa gift card."One of the things that we love about this event is that the kids come armed with wish lists, not just for themselves but for their families, for their moms, their dads," said the 49ers Foundation's Joanne Pasternack. "We've seen in past years the kids loading up the carts with diapers and with blenders, things that are clearly very selfless, so we love to see that spirit of giving." It truly is a one-on-one experience for the kids and players: They chat and learn about each other. The encounter is also designed to boost confidence and self-esteem in each child.MORE: Niners' Once-Durable Offensive Line Falling ApartPhoto Credit: NBC Bay Area
