Niners Still Looking for No. 2 Wide Receiver
So, whatever happened to Quinton Patton? The 49ers' rookie wide receiver, a fourth-round pick from Louisiana Tech, missed the first two preseason games this summer, but then exploded in the final two, showing good hands, breakaway ability and a knack for getting open. Now, after the 49ers have lost two straight games and the offense has looked anything but dynamic, it's obvious quarterback Colin Kaepernick is looking downfield for another receiver besides Anquan Boldin to get open.As Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle has noted, among wide receivers Boldin has 19 catches in three games, Kyle Williams has nine, Marlon Moore has one and Patton and Jon Baldwin – acquired in a trade from Kansas City in August – have none. The team went into training camp looking for a No. 2 wideout to pair with Boldin, and it appeared San Francisco had found a variety of options with Williams, Moore, Patton and Baldwin. But with San Francisco struggling at 1-2 and the once-dynamic offense now stuck in neutral in back-to-back losses to the Seahawks and Colts, youngsters Patton and Baldwin have been inactive or ignored. Now, with the 49ers getting ready for Thursday night's game in St....

By David Bonilla

On Wednesday, Chat Sports contributor Chase Senior reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers were "aggressively pursuing" San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He further stated that the Steelers are confident they can finalize a deal for the star player.
REPORTS: The Pittsburgh Steelers are aggressively pursuing a Brandon Aiyuk trade and the Steelers would be "surprised" if they don't land Aiyuk. Of note: Pittsburgh has the 20th overall pick. The Niners could look at that as equal value for Aiyuk if they can't get a deal done.…

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be wearing No. 1 the next time he steps onto the football field, leaving behind his No. 19 jersey. It's an unfortunate change for any fan who previously invested in a Deebo jersey—unless they consider it a throwback.
Newly signed wide receiver Trent Taylor quickly claimed No. 19 after rejoining the team on a one-year deal following three seasons elsewhere. Taylor last wore No. 15 with the 49ers, a number currently worn by wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Taylor also wore No. 81 with the team.
The 49ers' official team site has listed the jersey numbers for several of the team's free-agent newcomers (and Maliek Collins, acquired via a

Schrager has the 49ers using the No. 31 overall pick to select former Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey, whose 2023 campaign with the Bulldogs was limited by back and ankle injuries.
"McConkey in the first round? Yes," Schrager wrote. "Above guys like Troy Franklin and Keon Coleman? Perhaps. I've spoken to a

When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that."
Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that."
While Lynch didn't elaborate on the conversations occurring behind closed doors, Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a potential trade remains a
