Niners’ Offseason About to Come to an End

It's been a long time since Super Bowl XLVII ended in New Orleans with a 49ers comeback falling just short in a 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.Five months later, the Niners – many remaining from that team, joined by some young (and old) newcomers -- are ready to get back on the field.Rookies were due to report to the Marie P. DeBartolo Sports Center in Santa Clara Friday (July 19), with veterans required to report Wednesday, July 24. The first official full-squad workout of this summer training camp is expected the next day. Ninety players are on the 49ers' roster heading into camp at Santa Clara, where the team's practice facility is adjacent to the construction of the new Levi's Stadium.Two weeks after the first workout, the 49ers will play their first preseason game against the Denver Broncos on Aug. 8 at Candlestick Park. The other scheduled exhibition games are against the Kansas City Chiefs (and former 49ers quarterback Alex Smith) on Aug. 16 at Arrowhead Stadium, Aug. 25 vs. the Minnesota Vikings at Candlestick Park and Aug. 29 against the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium.Because of the construction of the new stadium, public access to 49ers training camp...

Two reported 49ers pre-draft visits didn't end up happening

Despite initial reports, two draft prospects who were set to visit the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft ultimately did not meet with the team. Matt Barrows of The Athletic revealed that former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill didn't end up visiting the Bay Area organization. Barrows wrote, "Meanwhile, a report in March indicated that USC receiver Brenden Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, would visit the 49ers, but he didn't end up coming, according to two league sources." 49ers begin offseason workout program today

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only. The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field. 49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
