John Lynch joined KNBR on Friday morning for his weekly radio interview. The general manager provided some injury updates as the San Francisco 49ers head into their Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Elijah Mitchell
Running back
Elijah Mitchell (knee) was one of four players who saw their practice windows opened this week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Mitchell was full-go in practice this week, and it sounds like he won't be limited in this weekend's game.
"He's full-go if he gets through this practice (on Friday) cleared," Lynch said on the
Murph & Mac show. "I don't think there will be any restrictions on him. It will probably just be a conscious deal—let's not give him too much on his first game back."
Assuming Friday's practice goes well, the 49ers will likely activate Mitchell off the injured reserve list ahead of Sunday's game.
Samuel, Juszczyk, Al-Shaair, Jennings
Wide receivers
Deebo Samuel (hamstring) and
Jauan Jennings (hamstring), and fullback
Kyle Juszczyk (finger) were inactive for Week 8's contest against the Los Angeles Rams. However, all three could be back on Sunday.
Like Mitchell, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair is attempting to return from injured reserve due to a knee injury.
He said this week that he expects to play against the Chargers.
"They've passed the initial test of practice," Lynch said of the group. "... It looks like we're going to have some good fortune with our health. We've got to get through today and through the weekend and see how it shapes up, but I'd imagine we'll have a lot of players we didn't have in that Rams game prior to our bye."
Greenlaw and McKivitz
Dre Greenlaw has been limited this week with a calf injury. The general manager provided an update on the linebacker too.
"We'll see on Dre," Lynch said. "I know that he had a good day out there on Thursday, and we'll see how today goes. Always after Friday's practice, you get a better indication, but we're excited, if not this week, that we'll have Dre back here soon."
Last but not least is offensive lineman
Colton McKivitz, who, like Mitchell and Al-Shaair, is attempting to return from an MCL sprain and the injured reserve list.
"He's come back from that. Colton's doing a really nice job," Lynch noted.
