No. 1 Niners will stick with defensive script

The 49ers have the undisputed No. 1 rushing defense in the NFL – and all it did was backfire on them during last week's come-from-ahead overtime loss to Dallas. The Niners quickly smoldered the Cowboys on the ground, only to get burned on the back end for doing so, but that meltdown in the secondary won't change San Francisco's defensive script or stop that unit from focusing on what it does best.

Kyle Shanahan explains why 49ers promoted Nick Sorensen to defensive coordinator

After Steve Wilks's dismissal, the San Francisco 49ers had several options for their vacant defensive coordinator position. Although former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley was considered for the role, he ultimately joined the coaching staff as the assistant head coach under head coach Kyle Shanahan. He will focus on game plan preparations while offering his experience to the team. Nick Sorensen, the team's defensive pass game specialist, was awarded the defensive coordinator position. Details emerge on 49ers' 1-year deals with Jon Feliciano and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles

Offensive lineman Jon Feliciano and linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles recently re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers on one-year deals. OverTheCap.com has revealed the contract information for both deals. Feliciano signed a contract that includes the minimum base salary for a player with eight accrued seasons of experience—$1.21 million. Flannigan-Fowles' base salary is slightly higher, at about $1.77 million. Feliciano is scheduled to count about $2.28 million against the 2024 salary cap, while Flannigan-Fowles is slated to consume almost $1.3 million.
