Crabtree talks over for today

Oct 6, 2009 at 9:19 PM--

The talks between Michael Crabtree, his representatives, and 49ers team officials appears to be done for today.

According to Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat, the two sides (which for some reason include M.C. Hammer) have called it a day after meeting at their undisclosed location (revealed to be a hotel where Maiocco has been chasing after anyone he recognized). All parties involved have left the hotel.

None of the sides, including Crabtree, seem to be willing to communicate with the press. Instead, they are doing everything they can to escape them.

Hotel staff informed Maiocco that Crabtree said "Get it done" to M.C. Hammer as he stepped into an SUV.

Maiocco, coming dangerously close to taking on a stalker role, had this to say on his Twitter:

The sides are definitely showing willingness to strike a deal. Clearly, this is doable. If it weren't, there'd be no need to continue talks.

Maiocco believes that talks will continue tomorrow.

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only. The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field. As the 49ers continue to negotiate a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, it's important to note that all of these sessions are

Mark Schlereth talks 49ers offensive line

By Al Sacco

With the 2024 NFL Draft in the near future, it seems the prevailing thought around the league is that the 49ers will need to address the offensive line. While the Niners do boast one of the league's elite players in LT Trent Williams, the rest of the unit has struggled in spots. In fact, San Francisco's right tackle and both guard positions allowed a pressure percentage of over 20% in 2023. Former Pro Bowl offensive lineman and current NFL analyst Mark Schlereth joined the No Huddle podcast to discuss the current state of the o-line. He noted that when you force San Francisco out of its comfort zone, the weaknesses upfront tend to show up. "When they're down, that's where

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will be present today as the team reports for the start of its offseason program. 49ers insider believes team may prefer WR Brandon Aiyuk play on fifth-year option

By Marc Adams

The San Francisco 49ers don't always do things like other NFL teams do. But they are consistent, for the most part. Seemingly every offseason, especially in recent years, a star player has wanted a new contract. From TE George Kittle and LB Fred Warner to WR Deebo Samuel and Edge Nick Bosa, the 49ers have given new contracts, but they have waited until late July-early August (and in Bosa's case—September) to do so, much to the chagrin of those players, who wanted their new deal sooner rather than later. It may not have happened as soon as the players wanted it to, but it has happened. Kittle's contract talks reportedly weren't as smooth as he might have hoped, Samuel famously scrubbed his social media accounts of all things 49ers, and Bosa didn't sign until a few days
