NFLPA files grievance on behalf of former 49ers safety Eric Reid

May 7, 2018 at 11:20 AM--

The NFL Players Association has filed a grievance on behalf of former 49ers safety Eric Reid, who protested against social injustice by kneeling during the national anthem the past two seasons and remains unsigned nearly two months after the start of free agency. The move comes after Reid, 26, filed a collusion grievance against the NFL last week. The NFLPA's grievance appears to be largely inspired by a free-agent visit Reid took to the Bengals in April. According to ProFootballTalk.com, Cincinnati reportedly didn't offer Reid a contract after Reid was asked by owner Mike Brown about his plans to protest during the national anthem in 2018.
