Shanahan Not Piling High Expectations on Garoppolo
After taking over the starting quarterback job last season and leading the 49ers to a five game winning streak, Jimmy Garoppolo suddenly is expected to be a miracle worker in 2018.Thanks to what he did, NFL analysts now see the 49ers as a franchise on the rise. Garoppolo, too, is being labeled one of the league's best young quarterbacks and leaders while being compared to some of the greats – all after just five starts in the Bay Area.Yet 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan isn't making such bold predictions. To Shanahan, Garoppolo showed in 2017 that he's the quarterback the team was looking for, but he wants him in 2018 to simply continue to make progress."I just want him to improve," Shanahan recently told Adam Schefter of ESPN. PFF high on this cornerback for 49ers in mock draft
By David Bonilla
Apr 15
Analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic grades former Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa as a second or third-round draft pick and ranks him 55th overall on his big board. Pro Football Focus, however, holds a higher opinion of the young defensive back. In his latest mock draft, the site's lead analyst, Sam Monson, has the San Francisco 49ers selecting Tampa with the No. 31 overall pick.
"T.J. Tampa fits the prototype of a 49ers cornerback," Monson explains. "He has had consecutive seasons of very impressive play and allowed just 240 yards on 49 targets last season. The team doesn't necessarily need him to make an immediate impact, but they could
Tom Brady 'not opposed' to NFL return with a playoff-bound team like the 49ers
By David Bonilla

Just when you thought the San Francisco 49ers and Tom Brady storylines had concluded, the future Hall of Fame quarterback drops another tidbit that sparks discussion. During an episode of "DeepCut with VicBlends," the host asked Brady what he would do if the NFL came calling once again.
VicBlends inquired if Brady would consider returning to the football field if a playoff-bound team like the 49ers needed him.
"I'm not opposed to it," Brady said, per Jordan Mendoza of USA Today. "I don't know if they're gonna let me if I become an owner an NFL team. I don't know, I'm always gonna be in good shape, always be able to

He held onto the football 39 times on the ground, rushing for 144 yards and scoring twice. This marked a significant improvement over his rookie 2022 campaign when he had 22 carries for 13 yards and a score.
Purdy further displayed his athleticism during the 49ers' playoff game against the Detroit Lions last season, helping engineer a comeback victory while rushing for 48 yards on five carries.
On Tuesday morning, Purdy joined the "Pat McAfee Show," acknowledging that he believes he can contribute more rushing yards if called upon. However, that decision rests with head coach Kyle Shanahan,

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
