Niners Add Former Charger Attaochu to Pass Rush

Mar 16, 2018 at 8:00 AM--

In September of this past season, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn expressed his frustration about the many injuries of Jeremiah Attaochu."At some point we'd like to see what he can do," Lynn told reporters. "He's been rehabbing since I've been here, so I know he can rehab."Attaochu, signed by the 49ers this week as a free agent after four seasons with the Chargers, has a definite upside. The 6-foot-3, 252-pounder, a former second-round pick from Georgia Tech, is quick and athletic and is an excellent pass rusher. He's played just 38 of 64 possible regular-season games, sidelined by a variety of injuries, including a high ankle sprain, a broken foot and hamstring injury. Last season, too, he was a healthy scratch for several games. Now the 49ers have given Attaochu a one-year deal worth as much as $5.125 million and plan to use him as a defensive end in pass-rush situations. Daniel Jeremiah explains why 49ers could still address pass rush in NFL Draft

By David Bonilla
Mar 21

Mock drafts will never please everyone, especially when they solely focus on the first 32 selections without offering perspective on what might come beyond the first round. Regarding the San Francisco 49ers, analyst Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft was no different. He projected former Penn State pass rusher Chop Robinson to join the Bay Area team. Why the skepticism from fans? The 49ers' free agency focus has been on revamping their defensive front. After allowing Arik Armstead, Chase Young, and others to depart for other organizations, the team addressed last season's inconsistent play by adding defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos, trading for defensive tackle Maliek

Daniel Jeremiah has 49ers landing pass rusher in latest mock draft

By David Bonilla
Mar 20

With the initial flurry of free agency in the books, respected draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah unveiled his latest mock draft, projecting teams' potential moves in the 2024 NFL Draft. While many fans questioned ESPN analyst Mel Kiper projecting Washington offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten to the 49ers with the No. 31 overall pick, Jeremiah's choice for the Bay Area team may receive a warmer reception. Despite the Niners adding defensive ends via free agency, Jeremiah has San Francisco using their first-round pick to add former Penn State pass rusher Chop
