Report: 49ers to hire Chris Kiffin for pass-rush role

The 49ers are creating a new staff position in an effort to create more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The 49ers are hiring Florida Atlantic defensive coordinator Chris Kiffin, 36, as a pass-rush specialist coach, Sports Illustrated reported. The 49ers have not confirmed the hiring. Kiffin is the younger brother of FAU head coach Lane Kiffin, the former Raiders head coach. He is also the son of legendary former NFL defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. Kiffin will join a team that ranked 26th in the NFL in sacks (30) last year and had just one player - outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil - with more than 3 sacks.

49ers add pass rusher in new 7-round mock draft

Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction.
The writer and analyst has the Niners selecting former UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the first round.

On Wednesday, Chat Sports contributor Chase Senior reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers were "aggressively pursuing" San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He further stated that the Steelers are confident they can finalize a deal for the star player.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
