Sad sacks: 49ers’ pass rush a top offseason priority
Jan 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM
• --
The 49ers have finally found their quarterback. A good next step: Find someone to harass their opponents' quarterbacks. In 2017, the 49ers traded for Jimmy Garoppolo, but failed to sack another glaring problem: a lack of sacks. The 49ers ranked 26th in the NFL in that category with 30, and linebacker Elvis Dumervil (6.5) was their only player with more than 3 sacks. Sound familiar? It should. Since 2012, when Aldon Smith had a franchise-record 19.5 sacks, the 49ers have collected the fourth-fewest sacks in the NFL (165). In addition, they are the only team to not have a player post at least nine sacks in a season over the past five seasons.

By David Bonilla
Apr 15
The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. As the 49ers continue to negotiate a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, it's important to note that all of these sessions are

49ers add pass rusher in new 7-round mock draft
By David Bonilla
Apr 15
Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction.
The writer and analyst has the Niners selecting former UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the first round.
"It wouldn't be a shock to see Laiatu Latu fall in the draft due to his medical history, but he is too good of a value to pass up here at No. 31," Mosher wrote. "The San Francisco 49ers have been searching for the right pass
