Niners Keep Rolling, This Time Over Jaguars

Dec 24, 2017 at 5:00 PM--

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be going to the playoffs soon. They've got a play-making defense, an outstanding rookie running back, some good receivers and a young quarterback who's been playing his best football in December.Yet it's the San Francisco 49ers – who lost their first nine games of 2017 – who were the better team Sunday at Levi's Stadium. The 49ers built a big lead and then hung on, winning 44-33, to secure their fourth straight victory and fifth in six games. San Francisco, again guided by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo – who seems to have single-handedly turned the franchise around over his four starts with his new team – is 5-10 going into the season finale next weekend against the Los Angeles Rams. The AFC South-champion Jags fall to 10-5.On Sunday, the 49ers jumped on top early. They went up 7-0 on Garoppolo's 1-yard run, added a 27-yard Robbie Gould field goal to take a 10-0 lead and then scored another TD on Dontae Johnson's 50-yard interception return. The Jaguars responded with their first two points coming on a return of a two-point conversion try by the 49ers, a Leonard Fournette 1-yard run and Jaelen Strong's 5-yard pass from Blake...

49ers reportedly sought No. 17 overall pick plus Jaguars player for Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Mar 18

Mia O'Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, was the first to link San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. A new report from O'Brien sheds light on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option. According to O'Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. However, it seems this asking price was deemed too high for the Jaguars, who would have had to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract

Kyle Shanahan: 49ers hope to keep Brandon Aiyuk, Brock Purdy together

By David Bonilla
Mar 26

Last week, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan ran into his wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas. "He was randomly at our hotel. I don't think he wanted to be," the coach shared on Tuesday while speaking to reporters at the NFL owners meetings. The 49ers are currently negotiating a long-term extension with Aiyuk to ensure he remains with the team for the foreseeable future. However, with it only being March, it's challenging to predict how everything will unfold. Typically, under the leadership of Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, the 49ers have reached agreements with their star players closer to training camp in July. Lynch stated yesterday that the

Is new 49ers backup QB Josh Dobbs an upgrade over Sam Darnold?

By Marc Adams
Mar 24

In 2022, the San Francisco 49ers seemed to have an embarrassment of riches at the quarterback spot. They had second-year player, and first-year starter Trey Lance, who they had traded the world away to draft. They had Jimmy Garoppolo, the team's starting QB from late 2017-2021, as Lance's backup. And they had a seventh-round draft pick in Brock Purdy, though he would be unlikely to play. Or so we thought. After Lance and Garoppolo went down, Purdy surprised everyone by keeping the ship afloat and leading the 49ers back to the NFC Championship Game. But after an injury to the UCL in his throwing arm, Purdy's 2023 season was in jeopardy. Which quarterbacks the 49ers would take to training camp was now even more important. They still had Lance, but they added Brandon Allen and

Charvarius Ward willing to help 49ers land Tre'Davious White

By David Bonilla
Mar 18

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
