Sticking around: Joe Staley part of rebuilding 49ers’ future

The 49ers' longest-tenured player figures to retain that title for at least a few more years. On Tuesday, general manager John Lynch, who has parted with veterans such as linebackers NaVorro Bowman and Ahmad Brooks, made it clear Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Staley, 33, is part of the future of a young and rebuilding team. "We love Joe Staley and love the way he plays," Lynch said. "We think he's a really good scheme fit for the offense we play. Joe can play in any offense but we feel like it's an ideal fit." Staley, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, is playing at a high level and has very reasonable $4.8 million base salaries the next two seasons.
