Last year, when he was preparing for the draft as part of the Broncos' front office, 49ers vice president of player personnel Adam Peters was studying video of Alabama inside linebacker Reggie Ragland. Ragland, the 2015 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, was selected No. 41 overall by the Bills last year. "This guy (Foster) is running past (Ragland) on every single play and making it," Peters said. [...] for Peters, who has served as general manager John Lynch's right-hand man, Foster was his so-called "draft crush." "I'm not going to take John's (draft crush) because I liked Reuben Foster, too, and I guess he gets first pick," Peter said, laughing. … A Butkus Award winner and unanimous first-team All-American, Foster had 115 tackles last year and was also named the SEC Championship Game MVP. His tumble to No. 31 was partly tied to concerns about a shoulder that required surgery before the combine and reportedly could require a follow-up procedure (Lynch has said the 49ers think a second surgery won't be necessary). The San Francisco 49ers are in good shape for 2024 when it comes to the wide receiver position. What that room looks like after this coming season remains to be seen. Most believe the 49ers will give Brandon Aiyuk a new contract around the start of training camp. But there are no guarantees. As it was reported on Friday, Aiyuk unfollowed the 49ers on Instagram, much like Deebo Samuel did two years ago.
It seems to be how modern-day players negotiate. It's not necessarily anything to be concerned about, but you never truly know how these things will end. There is still potential that the 49ers could trade the star receiver in the next couple of weeks.

49ers sign CB Rock Ya-Sin to a one-year deal

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to a one-year deal. He becomes the third cornerback to join the team this offseason. The Niners previously signed free agents Isaac Yiadom and Chase Lucas to one-year deals.

Ya-Sin (5-11, 195) was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round (34th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
