Fournette Could be 49ers’ Secret Target at No. 2

Apr 26, 2017 at 9:00 AM--

With one day until the NFL draft, the 49ers are still very quiet about their intentions with the No. 2 overall choice. Will it be quarterback Mitch Trubisky? Defensive end Solomon Thomas? Myles Garrett, if the Browns pass on him at No. 1? So far, Niners general manager John Lynch is playing it cool, saying all options are on the table, including trading down. But one NFL draft analyst is indicating the 49ers – if they stay at No. 2 – will surprise all the pundits.Greg Gabriel, the former scouting director of the Chicago Bears, tweeted Monday that the 49ers will select a player that "will shock all." Fucillo noted that Tony Pauline of draftanalyst.com wrote earlier this month that the "49ers are very high on Fournette and are seriously considering using the second pick of the draft to acquire him. The new front office wants a bigger back to run the offense and they're ready to give up on Carlos Hyde, who has had his struggles...

Daniel Jeremiah explains why 49ers could still address pass rush in NFL Draft

By David Bonilla

Mock drafts will never please everyone, especially when they solely focus on the first 32 selections without offering perspective on what might come beyond the first round. Regarding the San Francisco 49ers, analyst Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft was no different. He projected former Penn State pass rusher Chop Robinson to join the Bay Area team. The Jacksonville Jaguars were reportedly interested in trading for star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. However, the San Francisco 49ers' asking price of the No. 17 overall pick plus a player was seemingly too high for the team. Now, it appears another AFC team might be trying to pry Aiyuk away from the West Coast. Andrew Fillipponi of Pittsburgh-area radio station 93.7 The Fan reports that the Steelers are looking to work out a deal with the 49ers for the receiver. "Sources: The Steelers have looked into 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk," Fillipponi wrote on social media. "He's entering the last year of his contract. Steelers would have to execute a sign and trade.
