Garrett looks like No. 1, but 49ers still will chat with him

Garrett is widely expected to be selected by the Browns with the first overall pick, but the 49ers, who have the No. 2 selection, are doing their due diligence. Garrett told the Houston Chronicle he has upcoming visits scheduled with the 49ers and the Bears, who select No. 3. Last week, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers were trying to account for every possible scenario during their preparation for the draft. Garrett, 6-foot-4 and 272 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash in an unofficial time of 4.61 seconds Thursday after clocking a 4.64 at the NFL combine. The have the fifth-fewest sacks (61) in the NFL over the past two seasons and outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks, who has a team-high 12.5 sacks since 2015, turned 33 on March 14. Adams and Ohio State's Malik Hooker are considered the best safety prospects and each is a potential top-five pick.

Just when you thought the San Francisco 49ers and Tom Brady storylines had concluded, the future Hall of Fame quarterback drops another tidbit that sparks discussion. During an episode of "DeepCut with VicBlends," the host asked Brady what he would do if the NFL came calling once again.

According to NFL Insider, Benjamin Allbright, the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, to add him as a weapon for QB Russell Wilson. The Steelers added Wilson earlier this offseason after the Denver Broncos decided to move on from him. Aiyuk, if paired with Steelers WR George Pickens, would give Wilson two dangerous threats in the passing game.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.
