Dwight Clark, the wide receiver who played the starring role in "The Catch," the most famous play in 49ers' history, announced Sunday night that he has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. ALS, which is commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a terminal neuromuscular condition that affects control of muscles needed move, speak, eat and breathe. The disease has progressed to the point where he also has had weakness in his right hand, lower back, legs and abdominal muscles. [...] I encourage the NFLPA and the NFL to continue working together in their efforts to make the game of football safer, especially as it relates to head trauma.

49ers LB Dre Greenlaw to receive Dwight Clark Legacy Award

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that Dre Greenlaw will receive the Dwight Clark Award this year. The San Francisco 49ers linebacker will take the stage on Thursday, May 16, at the fourth annual Dwight Clark Legacy Series in San Jose to accept the prestigious award.
Each year, a current 49ers player is honored with the Dwight Clark Legacy Award, presented to a player who best exemplifies the late receiver's spirit of teamwork. Linebacker Fred Warner was the recipient last year. Defensive lineman Arik Armstead, now with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was the recipient in 2022, while tight end George Kittle earned the first-ever award in 2021.

Schrager mock draft has 49ers adding 'universally liked and respected' receiver

With only nine days remaining until the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager revealed his first mock draft of the year.
