Lynch addresses Marathe's role in 49ers' front office John Lynch might have answered questions posed by Paraag Marathe during the interview process, but the 49ers general manager has made it clear he wouldn't be answering to the executive in his new role. Today, during a 25-minute interview on KNBR, Lynch was again asked about the role Marathe will play in the front office. Marathe's murky role was an "impediment" to attracting some candidates, Pro Football Talk reported. All I know, for instance, one of my challenges early is negotiating contracts. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels noted 49ers director of football administration and analytics Brian Hampton was part of his interview with the team. "People talk a lot about analytics and what role they play in football," Lynch said.

The news of Arik Armstead's departure from the San Francisco 49ers after nine seasons with the team shocked linebacker Fred Warner. Armstead, a former first-round pick, was an impactful force on the football field. However, his availability over the last two seasons forced the 49ers to reevaluate his contract, and when his salary could not be significantly reduced, the two sides parted ways.

Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group caught up with Brock Purdy over the weekend as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback hosted his inaugural youth football camp at Levi's Stadium. Today, Purdy and most of his teammates will report to the team for the start of the offseason program, which will be limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation over the next couple of weeks.

We are less than one week away from the NFL Draft, and the San Francisco 49ers have their first day-one draft pick since 2021. That was the year they selected QB Trey Lance number three overall. The trade-up to get Lance cost the 49ers their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023. And now that they are back in the first round, at pick 31, fans are anxious to see what the team does with the pick.
