Shanahan could join father in exclusive 500-point title club Of the 20 teams that have scored 500 points in NFL history, only five have won a title: The 2009 Saints, 1999 Rams, 1998 Broncos and 1994 49ers won Super Bowls, and the 1961 Oilers won the AFL championship. If they win, Atlanta offensive coordinator and the 49ers' presumptive head coach Kyle Shanahan will have something else in common with his dad, Mike Shanahan, who was part of two of those four high-scoring Super Bowl champions: Mike Shanahan was the 49ers offensive coordinator in 1994 and the Broncos head coach in 1998. Here are the teams that have scored 500 points in a season. # 2013 Broncos: 606 points # 2007 Patriots: 589 2011 Packers: 560 2012 Patriots: 557 2004 Colts: 522 2010 Patriots: 518 # 2011 Patriots: 513 # 2001 Rams: 503 # 2015 Panthers: 500 Where they rank in points per game, including postseason: 2013 Broncos: 664 points/19 games (34.94 points per game) T3. 1998 Vikings: 624/18 (34.7) 2007 Patriots: 655/19 (34.5) 2016 Falcons: 620/18 (34.4) 2011 Packers: 580/17 (34.1) 2012 Patriots: 611/18 (33.9) 2000 Rams: 568/17 (33.4) 1999 Rams: 609/19 (32.1) 2004 Colts: 574/18 (31.9) 2010 Patriots: 539/17 (31.7)...

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal.
Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night.

ESPN's Barnwell: 49ers trading up in Round 1 to draft a cornerback 'could make sense'

The San Francisco 49ers currently hold the No. 31 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. While many expect them to address the offensive line, given their recent focus on defense in free agency, ESPN's Bill Barnwell suggests a different approach. He advocates for the 49ers to use their first-round pick on a cornerback and potentially trade up to secure the right talent.
Trading up wouldn't be out of character for the Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch regime. The last time the 49ers owned the No. 31 overall pick, they surrendered two more selections to move up to No. 25 overall, where they drafted wide receiver Brandon

The San Francisco 49ers are likely hoping that a top offensive lineman drops to them at No. 31 in the first round of this month's draft. Fans would like to see the team add someone to compete with Colton McKivitz for the right tackle spot and potentially take over for Trent Williams when the future Hall of Famer decides to retire.
Having two studs bookending the offensive line would go a long way in protecting franchise quarterback Brock Purdy. While tackle may be the first-round target, depending on how the first 30 selections play out, San Francisco might have to trade up to get a genuinely impactful

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for a franchise-record 4,280 yards last season, leading the team to the Super Bowl and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. He held onto the football 39 times on the ground, rushing for 144 yards and scoring twice. This marked a significant improvement over his rookie 2022 campaign when he had 22 carries for 13 yards and a score.
Purdy further displayed his athleticism during the 49ers' playoff game against the Detroit Lions last season, helping engineer a comeback victory while rushing for 48 yards on five carries.
On Tuesday morning, Purdy joined the "Pat McAfee Show," acknowledging that he believes he can contribute more rushing yards if called upon. However, that decision rests with head coach Kyle Shanahan,
