ESPN’s Riddick will interview for 49ers’ GM job he wants

Jan 3, 2017 at 9:00 AM--

ESPN's Riddick will interview for 49ers' GM job he wants Twenty-six years after he entered the NFL with the 49ers, ESPN analyst Louis Riddick will have a chance to re-enter the league with the same organization. The 49ers will interview Riddick, 47, a former defensive back who transitioned to personnel executive, next week in New York for their general-manager opening, ESPN reported. Riddick began his six-year career as a ninth-round pick of the 49ers in 1991, but didn't play in a regular-season game. On Monday on ESPN, Riddick said he viewed the 49ers' GM opening as very appealing because it will provide the chance to "start fresh" with a new head coach and an owner in Jed York who has said he's committed to patiently rebuilding a 2-14 team. "Even though it's a daunting task, given the fact that personnel-wise this roster has been depleted, I like the situation that is coming to bear in San Francisco," Riddick said, via NinersNation.com.
