49ers set to interview sons of stars in Shanahan, Wolf

Jan 2, 2017 at 8:00 PM--

A day after firing Chip Kelly and Trent Baalke, the 49ers set up interviews Monday with a group that included Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf, a source said. Shanahan's father, Mike, was the offensive coordinator of the 49ers' last Super Bowl team before he won two titles as the Broncos head coach. The 49ers also scheduled an interview with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels this weekend at the Patriots facility, a source said. The 49ers have also requested permission to speak with Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn, the NFL Network reported. Shanahan's offense recently rolled over the 49ers in a 41-13 win on Dec. 18 in which the Niners allowed the eighth-most yards (550) in franchise history. Despite his age, Shanahan, the NFL's fourth-youngest offensive coordinator, has nine seasons of experience as a coordinator with Houston (2008-09), Washington (2010-13), Cleveland (2014) and Atlanta (2015-16). At 28, Shanahan became the NFL's youngest offensive coordinator in 2008 when the Texans promoted him from wide receivers coach.
