C Martin out; 49ers’ line shuffle will continue vs. Rams

Niners center Marcus Martin, a Los Angeles native who played at USC, will not play in return to his hometown today. Martin is out with an ankle injury he sustained in last week's loss at Atlanta. The 49ers will be without left tackle Joe Staley (hamstring), who will miss his third straight game, cornerback Dontae Johnson (groin) and nose guard Glenn Dorsey (knee, ribs).

With the 2024 NFL Draft just two days away, there have yet to be significant updates regarding Brandon Aiyuk's status. While the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver remains away from the team, efforts for a contract extension persist.

While most expect the San Francisco 49ers to target an offensive lineman with their first-round pick, NFL Media lead draft writer Eric Edholm has the team going in another direction with the No. 31 overall pick. In his final mock draft of the year, Edholm has the team selecting former Illinois defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton, who also goes by "Johnny."

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
