Niners Need to Play a Complete Game

Dec 16, 2016 at 9:15 AM--

If the 49ers want to snap their franchise-record 12-game losing streak Sunday in Atlanta, they'll need to play a complete game for the first time since the season opener. In earning their way to a 1-12 record, San Francisco often has played well in the first half, only to collapse in the second half. Or, they've trailed early and rallied too late. The Falcons are the NFL's highest-scoring team, so the 49ers will have to put up as many points as possible to stay with them.Last week the 49ers followed their usual script, playing better early. They had a two-touchdown lead over the New York Jets, but lost in overtime. San Francisco has taken an early lead in 10 games, yet has lost nine of those – an NFL record. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, too, often has been fairly solid to start a game, only to have troubles in the third and fourth quarters."If there was one thing we could do that we could change it, we could," Kaepernick told the Associated Press this week. "There are a lot of things that play into that. But, once again, we have to be able to be better in the second half."Every indication is the Niners are in for a 13th straight loss, however. Draft upgrades: 49ers' biggest need is obvious

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers mainly focused on fortifying their defense in free agency, leaving many to believe that the 2024 NFL Draft will be their chance to upgrade the offensive line. Most mock drafts predict the 49ers will select the best offensive tackle available to bolster the line's weak link—the right side—and potentially provide a succession plan for 35-year-old left tackle Trent Williams. Pro Football Focus recently examined each team's biggest need heading into the draft's first round and unsurprisingly listed offensive line for the 49ers. By David Bonilla
Apr 23

Malachi Corley has been likened to versatile San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel. What does Corley, the former Western Kentucky wide receiver, think about the prospect of joining Samuel and the rest of the 49ers' receiving corps? It's a possibility. Corley is expected to be drafted in the second or third round this week and recently visited the team in Santa Clara. Could it be the 49ers calling his name? "Put me out there with Deebo," Corley recently told Kay Adams on the "Up and Adams" show. "Deebo, left, Malachi, right, [Brandon] Aiyuk, [Christian] McCaffrey down the middle." While 49ers fans hope to see Aiyuk remain with the team, negotiations for

By David Bonilla
Apr 23

When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that." Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that." While Lynch didn't elaborate on the conversations occurring behind closed doors, Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a potential trade remains a
