Trade up for a top tier OT Mock

Key Re-Signs
OG - David Baas (RFA) – As an RFA we could tender him at his original 2nd round draft slot. If there were no takers we’d only have to pay him $1.01, which is chump change even as a back-up.
OT – Pashos (UFA) – Unless he’s dead set on starting somewhere I’d love to have him back.
OT – Sims (UFA) – He's been reliable in relief. As a back-up we could do worse.
CB - Bly (UFA) – He’s still a solid cover guy.
OLB – Brooks (RFA) – He’s showing plenty of promise as a passing down rush specialist.
NT – Franklin (UFA) – Of course his best year was his contract year. Make him do it again with a Franchise tag.

New Free Agents
RB/KR – Reggie Bush (Street Free Agent) - New Orleans releases Bush in the off-season due to his crazy salary and we swoop in and we snatch him up. He’s an obvious up-grade to the return game.

Draft (Assuming the Panthers lose and Niners win on 1/3/10)

Trade #1: Andre Davis is the man but he’s sure to be gone by #11. We trade the first #1 (11) and our 2nd round pick (45) to Washington for their #1 (5 or 6). The Skins move back and still get their QB.

1 – (6): Anthony Davis OT - Rutgers

Trade #2: Pretending for a minute that there’s a player on the board with our second pick who New England wants really bad (McClain), we move down with our second 1st rounder (13) in exchange for New England’s 1st (24+/-) and New England’s 2nd from Tennessee (48+/-). Even after the deal New England has three 2nd round picks remaining.

1 – (24-NE): Brandon Graham OLB - Michigan (Iupati if he's there)
2 – (45): Traded to Washington
2 – (48-NE): Brandon Ghee CB – Wake Forest
3 – (77): Jacoby Ford WR/KR - Clemson
4 – (110): Mitch Petrus OG – Arkansas
5 – (153): Barry Church SS – Toledo (Trade-up if necessary)
6 – (188): John Fletcher DE – Wyoming
7 – (222): Moose Bullwinkle QB – Whatsamatta U

RG: Chilo Rachal / Tony Wragge

As soon as free agency begins, bring him in and offer a contract around the average of the top five OG’s in the league. This should reduce the chances of New England matching the deal and 2. Work out compensation with the Patriots, most likely a 2nd round pick. No more futzing around at LG. Heitmann needs help in the middle.

We'd have to give up a lot more than a second to get Mankins. It would be at least a 1st (his original draft round), or if the Pats give him the highest tender a 1st and 3rd. If we're giving up a first for someone we might as well draft someone and groom him ourselves.
you forgot to include Moose Bullwinkle in your depth chart...

He's fourth string behind Rocky, Boris and Natasha but his Pro Day workout and 40 time at the combine should make the Raiders use their 1st pick on him.
NE usually doesnt trade up. They let their picks come to them. I dont see that changing much.

Yeah . . . wish I'd seen this article before I wasted time on this mock.

Boston Globe

He's not going anywhere.

Mock revision pending . . .

It's not bad but I think we have a better chance of trading down to Seattle's 1b (19th), or even the Giants (around 20) or the Texans (21).

If we did that Iupati is likely to still be around and that would make for a very good value.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense to me to trade our 1a to Seattle for their 1b and 2a (they have 2 second rounders as well). This gives us a lower 2nd round that we can use to get Iupati as well as a high 2nd rounder.

I think we will sign more than 1 top notch FA. Michael Lewis will not be starting nest year I hope and one of the Guards will not start next year either.

I'm sure he's much, MUCH better than JaMarcus Russell.

With no CBA player movement will be pretty limited.

What do you like about John Fletcher? The better player from Wyoming would be Mitch Unrein at defensive end. Fletcher has more physical ability but Unrein plays like Justin Smith.

I was actually thinking of Fletcher as a possible OLB conversion candidate. He's 6'-6", 270 and pretty athletic. He could probably shed 10-15 pounds pretty easily.

I will puke if we resign David "I'm as good as Bass" Baas.

Mankins or bust.

If you'd be willing to give up a 1st and a 3rd for Mankins, I have to seriously question your decision making.
