MadDog49er 2017 Big 150 Board

Greetings to all!

Excited to flip the calendar to April by this time next week, which means the draft is coming soon. This next week is huge, as it wraps up the vast majority of campus Pro-Days by Friday, March 31.

For now, here is my ballpark projection of where I believe the first 150 selections will be. This is NOT A MOCK, and NOT A BEST PLAYER BOARD, This is more of a slotting area, aka range of where I see the player falling. I do think numbers 1-3 will fall this way (I do see the Niners taking Hooker at 2), and then all bets off on the remaining 147. Just simply too many trades to create a mock. Have fun, and send me notable errors in spelling, teams, positions and omissions you believe jump out at you. -MD

HOOKER
Nice MadDog, that's quite a fall for Jonathan Allen, I supppose shoulders can be troublesome.

It does look like you've projected an injury slide for some and not others though (Hooker & Corey Davis coming to mind). Is that the type of injury, or just the projected talent of the players?
Awesome work MD.

Looking forward to the Hooker debates. Should be fun.

(Some edits: your 3rd paragraph, 3rd sentence- "I don think numbers 1-3"....I think don is a typo - "do". Also, second to last pick, his same is Isidora).
Why Harris high, Barnett low? Lawson dropping 20 .

No matter who slips, we will have the opportunity to draft our Elephant of the future at 34.

I think Hooker is a great talent but I'm going to be really uneasy if we draft him at #2. A safety who has health concerns, limited tape and considered quitting football is way too many serious red flags for a position which simply isn't drafted that early for a reason.

Thomas to me is a much safer pick and a bigger need. I have a lot more faith in Jimmie Ward playing FS at this point than I do of Arik Armstead or anyone else on our roster Dave Buckner from being a dominant force on the DL the same way Solomon can be for us for a long time.
#134 Adam Shaheen not Sheehan

It's officially draft season once you post this MD. Love it!

The almost quitting football is a nonstory. He was a basketball player who played football 1 season in hs before being recruited to OSU. Things got tough for him so he considered jumping back. It's safe to say he's past that point. The limited tape and lack of combine numbers due to his injury would be my biggest concerns.

If you're counting on Ward you shouldn't bring up injuries though. I prefer we keep him as a slot corner and either draft Hooker at 2 or Baker in the 2nd. We might not want to dismiss what the previous coaching regimes thought he was best at.

More good work. Many thanks.
Good work. Do you think secondary is that big of an issue for us with our first 2 picks devoted to it?

Jordan Willis went from not on your list to 26. Must be the biggest jump of any player?
Thanks for posting. I know it's not a popular view around here (it will get more popular now that you posted this), but I agree that Barnett may fall in the first round. He's the type of player that playoff teams will want because he can contribute immediately and has elite hand usage, but he's almost a finished product who isn't going to get much better.

Why do you think Daeshon Hall falls to the 4th round? Lack of sack production in college? He's raw, but had better combine numbers than Aldon Smith at 6'5 266 with 35" arms. He's not as flexible/agile and doesn't have the same explosive hands, but he plays hard and seems to have some potential. CBS has him rated a 4th round pick too, but I feel like someone will take a chance in the 3rd.

The first line should say "150" instead of "253."

I always rely on your scouting maddog, so thanks.

It seems like there's a log jam after Garrett (though I know you have your misgivings about him). Do you see much separation between Hooker, Thomas, Lattimore, and Adams in terms of talent and potential, or is it just a matter of scheme fit and team need?

There are 253 draft slots this year. He ranked the top 150 against the 253 that will be drafted.
Dalvin Cook at #35?? 🤔
