John Brown-WR-Pittsburg State

With the 49ers obviously looking at speedier, vertical threats at WR, Brown is a name worth mentioning. He's an explosive downfield threat, also has 5 special teams returns for TD's. He's a late round prospect who had an excellent combine and certainly has the speed to be a high quality vertical threat in the NFL. Undersized, he looks like he'd be well suited for the slot. The main knocks on him are his size, smaller hands and the level of competition he faced. He's actually a fairly good route runner and has shown reliable hands. In terms of what the 49ers are looking for, he'd be a guy worth a look in the later rounds. Reminds me quite a bit of T.Y. Hilton, don't think he'd have the same impact but if they want an infusion of speed on offense, he'd bring that and then some.

you can nickname him "skeeter" and it will fit.
plenty athletic enough and skilled, but so, so small.
he's a football player, though, so he will likely make it.
with as many later round picks as we have i definitely want us to take a flyer on him. dude can straight up flyyyy.
Could be a return specialist available late in the draft.
So far, this guy and Ellington look like two of the biggest steals of the draft. Its still pretty early on, but both guys look significantly better than many of the WR's who were picked in front of them.

I agree.

Haven't heard any news on some of the other WRs. You have some links to some of their play?

Davante Adams hasn't really done all that well. Adams in particular has been plagued with dropped pass issues. Odell Beckham has been repeatedly injured. Brandin Cooks has done very well with New Orleans, Marqise Lee has also looked good for Jacksonville, Allen Robinson though has been hampered by a hamstring injury, Donte Moncrief has struggled to do much of anything with the Colts. Latimer supposedly has been decent with Denver but I haven't gotten a chance to see him play at all outside of the 49ers game.
Brown and Brooks can fly.
