I say safe, because when I discuss this with friends, they get defensive.
He was picked number 2 overall, hasnt produced, and couldnt beat out pierre thomas and duece mccallsiter (sp?).
I mean, he hasnt done anything for a number 2 overall pick.
Yes I consider alex smith and vernon busts (but I still hope they can produce somehow)

Is it safe to call Reggie Bush a bust?

I was sharpening my pencil....... errr i mean polishing my keyboard about to pounce. Until I seen your last line.
But in fairness to Reggie. He actually has made some game changing plays. Allbeit in the return game.

He definitely hasn't lived up to expectations. I know he was hurt last year anyone know how long? I don't think he will ever be that running back people thought he would be, he's still an offensive weapon though but I consider him a bust right now.

Up until he got hurt. He had something like 21 TD's in his previous 23 games or something to that effect. While you're right he's never going to be that great RB people thought. He's still making plays. As that stat (not exact but around about) suggests.

Like VD, he wasn't worth the pick that high, but has value. He's exactly what I thought he would be: a Dave Meggett/ Eric Metcalf type (although Metcalf was FAR better than Bush will ever be), a speedy returner who could occasionally play some offense and create mismatches. I can't beleive anyone thought he could be an every down back. Good guy to have when you have pieces already, he would have failed big time had he gone anywhere else that high in the draft. But you can get guys like him much later in the draft, case in point Sproles. Same player, much better value.

not really. he produces. Didn't live up to the hype, but i wouldn't call him a bust. A.Smith is a bust thus far. Ryan Leaf is a bust, etc...

To say not a starter is ridiculous. He was a bigger part of the offense than McAllister and will be a bigger part than Thomas.
He had 1 less carry than Duece desite playing 3 less games. That doesn't even count the more than 7 targets per game he had.
Now as of the rest you had to say............... As you were.

If he's a bust then Smith and Davis are money shots.

You could argue that Sproles is more valuable, too. He's small like Bush, but he's thicker and seems to be much better at being able to run the ball effectively.
