WWE higher ups are dumb sometimes.
Biggest pop yet and you're going to risk eliminating it all by having him get powerbombed on the side of the ring?
Just like you risked Paige at a house show that nobody saw? Now she looks like a stiff chubby vampire because her spinal cord is a mess?
Dumb.
IMHO they don't need to be having house shows anymore.
house shows is still a big part of their revenue and they move a lot of merchandise there, they will never stop doing house shows.
that's great and all but the the amount of medium to difficult bumps to be taken during those shows is too damn high imo
That's how they lost Rollins. That's how Paige got wrecked. etc.
and bryan gets powerbombed on the side of the ring the day of his clearance?
I doubt he was officially cleared yesterday. I think they held back for storyline reasons. He put up quite a fight too so I'm sure he's been in the ring with them and taking bumps for some time.
.@WWE's primary concern is the health and wellness of our performers. I'm sure it was a long two years for @WWEDanielBryan, but glad he could make a healthy return to doing what he loves: performing for the #WWE Universe in the ring. #YesYesYes
ie, we knew he was healthy for awhile but wanted to keep the surprise. Also his contract is expiring soon and we want to make sure he re-signs with us.
-- According to Mike Johnson over at pwinsider.com, discussions are underway between WWE and Hulk Hogan about a potential return for the Hall of Famer.
-- It is unclear what Hogan's role would be but some ideas tossed around are as an "authority figure" on Smackdown, which would make sense given recent developments around Shane McMahon as well as Daniel Bryan's likely return as a full time wrestler. Other rumored roles include as Braun Strowman's mystery partner or as an entrant into the 50-man "Greatest Royal Rumble" event in Saudi Arabia towards the end of April. It could also be that WWE is simply looking to get Hogan back as an ambassador for the company, especially with WrestleMania around the corner.
-- WWE's only statement on the matter was: "We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE." Ultimately, the decision will likely boil down to reaction from WWE's sponsors and other promotional partners.
Would be awesome if we heard this when Braun's mystery teammate is announced:
Tbph, Elias or a short term return for Ellsworth make the most sense for Braun's partner. If they are gonna give him a tag title run, he needs someone who can eat the pinfall when they drop them to keep him looking strong.
