Where's Jody Shelley these days? Also, let's bring back Claude Lemieux, I'm sure he has something left in the tank.
I was looking at the Fear the Fin blog (blog for Sharks).

They have an odd ranking of top 10 LW in Pacific. They go:

10. Chris Higgins, Canucks
9. Andrew Cogliano, Ducks
8. Burrows, Canucks
7. Benoit Pouliot, Oilers
6. David Perron, Oilers
5. Tomas Hertl, Sharks
4. Gaborik, Kings
3. Daniel Sedin, Canucks
2. Taylor Hall, Oilers
1. Patrik Mareau, Sharks

Must be a Canadian writer, lol. Way too much favoritism to the.....Oilers?!?

I'd go

10. Patrick Maroon, Ducks - Sure he doesn't score much, but his presence can dominate the ice and he had a great playoffs

9. Andrew Cogliano, Ducks - Grew into a 20-goal scorer

8. Johnny Gaudreau, Flames - Sure he only played one game last year, but this kid could be the next St. Louis.

7. Tanner Pearson, Kings - The Kings 2012 1st round pick started to shine in the post-season, expect a breakout year for him.

6. Mikkel Boedker, Coyotes - One of the fastest players in the league, two-way player, starting to emerge as a goal scorer. Future is bright for the 24 year old

5. Daniel Sedin - 2 bad years, he is sliding down the scale of talent.

4. Tomas Hertl, Sharks - one of the most promising rookies last year in the NHL

3. Taylor Hall, Oilers - a young stud. Will the Oilers ever teach their forwards to play defense?

2. Patrick Marleau, Sharks - 30/40 goal scorer who should be slowing down

1. Marian Gaborik, Kings - Still in a prime year, Gaborik's speed is deadly on the Kings roster. Hasn't hit 40 gaols since 11'-12', he still has that talent though. Lead all players in goals in the post-season.

Just watched this interview with McLellan, and he seems really impressed with the rooks. Based on his statements, he's not been pleased with some of the veterans, calling some of their performances "subpar" and in his words, if the young guys keep playing well, those vets are likely gone.

He indicates that two or three of the rookies could make the team. Names he mentioned were Taylor Fedun, Mirco Mueller, Goldobin and Chris Tierney. I'm not surprised by any of these names. If you read up on Fedun, he's a talented player but never had a shot in Edmonton with a lot of other prospects over there making him the odd man out. Mueller has worked hard to develop himself. Goldobin shows great scoring touch and skill. And Tierney has been fantastic at every level he's been at so far.

"The message is it's not just about filling one or two holes, it's about some being pushed, and it's going to be a fight to keep your job now. And that'll be a good message to some of the players that have been here a while."

- Todd McLellan

Sharks are obviously impressed (and I'm elated about that) with their top two draft picks Goldobin and Bergman, they signed both of them to deals. http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=731932 / http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=731933

These two were the best offensive and defensive players on their team, respectively. I hope both see Worcester action ASAP. It would honestly seem silly for them not to make it there soon -- Worcester has been horrible for a couple years now. Very top heavy. After the top half of good-to-decent prospects, there's simply not much "explosive" talent playing out there.

Just as an FYI, the Sharks have over $6 Million in cap space right now. Kennedy carries a 2.35 million number, Burish 1.85 million, and Brown 1.2 million. What's sad is that Kennedy might bring the least value out of all of them. Would love to get rid of him.

Not sure what to think about this season

Hopefully our youth movement can propel us to an experience like the LA Kings where they came in and got hot at the end of the season to ride all the way to a Cup. Defense continues to prove it wins championships, so I hope our young talent can come in and some guys emerge as the next great players for the future.

The usuals:
Vlasic
Burns
Braun
Demers
Irwin
Hannan

The new blood:
Tennyson
Mueller
Abeltshauser
DeMelo
Bergman
Fedun
Doherty

Which one of those 7 youngsters will step up?
The Goodrow-Goldobin-Tierney line lit up tonight's game. In the 3-1 victory, they combined for 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists. Beautiful saucer pass from Goldobin on the first goal by Goodrow. On the second goal, a beautiful no look back-pass from Tierney. It's obviously way too early to make grand predictions, but I'm really, really excited about these kids.

Rookie D-man Abeltshauser and winger Emanuelsson both got assigned to Worcester. For Emanuelsson, this will be his first year of Worcester action.

Sharks TC Roster is at 38, but that includes two rookie goalies that won't make it, so that cuts it down to 36, minus Torres who is hurt. So 35 still actually competing. Among the following 14, 12 will be cut/re-assigned among the following remaining players:

McGinn
Goodrow
Goldobin
Tierney
Hamilton
Hayes
Karlsson
Oleksuk
Tarasov
Mueller
DeMelo
Doherty
Fedun
Tennyson

Unless they move/cut Kennedy, Burish, Scott, and/or someone else, there's really only two spots left on this team.
