Take MJ out of the 90's, which star (of Today's game) fits best?

BTW, Ray Allen about to get his 3rd ring while Kobe's looking to get his third knee. Where you at, Bryant lovers?!?

I hate Kobe but I don't envision him Ringo Starr'ing for a Championship. Allen helped his reputation as a clutch corner shooter but people have long forgotten that dominate player he was on the Sonics.

No...I'm not just not nostalgic about the 90s. Ppl talk about how refs swallowed whistle in the 90s and they call fouls way too often today - but facts don't back up such claims
From May 2013 artcile:Today, the average team earns fewer free throws per field goal attempt than in any season of the '80s or '90s. And overall, 2012-2013 is on pace to set the new all-time NBA record for fewest free throws attempted.
lol @ refs call too many fouls today
Ppl say defenses were more physical back then but stats show defenses allowed more points - even though 3pt shooting is way better today lol

Because the current day NBA player is mentally fragile and settles for jump shots instead of banging in the post. Why it took James (size of Karl Malone) 8 seasons to step into the paint. A guy like Rik Smiths would be a Top 5 Center.

So Lebron was settling for jump shots instead of stepping in the paint for his first 8 years? He must have had an amazing jumper in his 2nd year of the year because he shot at 50% from below the arc lol - you watch too much ESPN.
lol @ Rik Smiths would be top 5. No - slow moving Centers can't make it in the NBA today. We have a Rik Smiths type player in the NBA today. Chris Kaman. A back-up Center who is struggling to get minutes for a lottery team.

And Yao Ming's body couldn't handle today's pace, which is why he was out of the game at 30. Rik Smits and his foot problems? Nu-uh.

4ML, you mad bro? You going hard on this internet calling dudes out as chumps and what not. Now you might disagree with my opinion or anyone else's but you are losing favor with me with all the bravado. I am trying to be as polite as I can in this debate because this is about the players and not us. It is fine to disagree about the players but we can't let our fanboy override our man law! You gotta have respect for the next man! I realize the internet allows us to say crazy things but we must restrain ourselves as best we can so that we can project more credibility to the readers of our posts! Now I may be misreading you because I can't tell your tone or tenor but it seems like you are getting chippy about this. Trust me, it ain't worth it! Opinions are bound to be all over the place when you have different folk from all over in one place. My opinion is that today's stars don't measure up to the 90s stars. They come out too early without simple guard and big man fundamentals. You got PGs that can't distribute and bigs that lack a real post game! And I am right at Kobe's age ( I got him by 3 years ) so I ain't some old geezer yet. Kobe has even said he wished he played back then and he laments the way the game is played today. Kobe could have played back then but he was no where near as deadly as MJ over the course of his career.

lol this. Yao played like 4 full seasons. Most of the other seasons he had tough time playing 50 games. He played like 8 years in the NBA before retiring.
Also, lateral quickness is a must in today's game to employ pick-n-roll on offense and defend it at the other end.

They were long, strong and defensive minded! I don't know any of the current champion basketball teams that were as fit as those guys. Then talk of Hakeem Olajuwon, Barkley, Karl Malone, Stockton, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Dominique Wilkins, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, Magic Johnson as a point guard? The NYK teams where you had bruisers like Anthony Mason and Xavier McDaniel and John Starks? That era was just as athletic as it is today. As a matter of fact the league is soft now and fools aint posterizing folk no more and straight punking fools. There needs to be high def from the 90s so folk can see what I am talking about. There is absolutely no edge to day in athleticism today over the 90s. Clyde Drexler and the whole Portland Trailblazers team? Cmon bro!
lol you're taking the best players from an era and lookin' at their athleticism. The overall athleticism in NBA today is ridiculous and can't even be compared to the 90s. I watched basketball in the 90s too and yea - athleticism wise it's not even close.
I agree, Pillbusta on my end though Absence was the wrong word to use, I simply wanted to make the point I felt that this generation was more athletic than it's predecessor.
