If I read the article correctly - as per the rules, Cavs and Wolves can't be involved in a trade for Wiggins till the deadline of aug 23rd is passed. So, if NBA finds out that they did reach an agreement before that - they may decide to block the trade.
How can they find out? Well, if the trade goes down exactly how it has been reported - it'll be kind of obvious that the deal was reached and leaked to media during this period.
Adam Silver - don't be a f**king wuss!

Ridiculously one-side CP3 trade? The hell? Hornets were getting Goran Dragic, Lamar Odom (who had just won 6MOY), Kevin Martin, & Luis Scola for a guy that wanted out. Compare that to things like the Melo to NYK trade...where the Knicks supposedly gave up a Kings Ransom for him. They got 3 guys that were good at the time, and one emerging prospect in Dragic.

Unless Cleveland's FO stupidly has an agreement of this sort in ink, there's absolutely no evidence or proof the NBA can have to block this trade. All hearsay or media reports; all parties will deny it.

Dragic was like 25 at the time and not more than a back-up PG at best. No one expected him to have the kind of year he just had. He wasn't much of a prospect at the time after not doing much in the league for previous 3+ years. That's why he has already played for 4 teams and twice for Suns.
As for Melo trade - Raymond Felton was averaging 17 and 9 when he got traded to Denver. Wilson Chandler was only 23 and was averaging 17pts a game. Gallainari was averaging 16pts a game and was only 22. Those guys were emerging prospects...not Dragic. I'm not going to bring up the 1st round pick because no one knew what that pick will be.
Trade happened, when Melo's contract with Denver was going to expire in couple months...and Melo had pretty much announced to the whole World that he wants to go to NY. Under the scenario - I thought Denver did fine. Nothing close to the real value of Melo...but at least they got a well settled 26 year old PG, and two young emerging forwards.
Odom was a really good player but was over 30. When you're trading a super-star...you want to rebuild. Scola was old too and Kevin Martin is a one-trick pony. It was a joke of a trade to be honest with you...and no one should have agreed to that trade. It made 0 sense for the Hornets to make that deal.

The proposed Dragic/Odom/Martin/Scola deal was a better deal than that, by a lot. At least it would have yielded some short term benefit as opposed to little-to-know benefit at all.
Guys like Wilson Chandler or Raymond Felton putting up big numbers with Mike D'Antoni is like Nick Young and Jodie Meeks doing the same. Neither were considered to be particularly good players or prospects. The only somewhat well-regarded prospect in that deal was Gallinari.
Dragic was 24, had only played for 1 team, and was the backup to Steve Nash. He's been an excellent player since he's gotten the chance to start.

Lol Eric Gordon was one of the up and coming star SGs at the time. He was 22 and just averaged 22ppg . Aminu was a young talented prospect, kaman is a former all star, and that austin rivers pick was thought to be a possible #1 pick.
That's way better than Dragic and garbage

If this is true, this trade can't be finalized soon enough. Best for both teams (and players) for this trade to go through already.
