Mark Cuban railing against the b******t scheme the NCAA's got going, suggesting kids would be better off by going to the D-League. I made this same argument a couple of months ago.
http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/id/10538276/mark-cuban-says-nba-d-league-better-option-ncaa
"I think what will end up happening -- and this is my opinion, not that of the league -- is if the colleges don't change from the one-and-done, we'll go after the one," Cuban said. "The NCAA rules are so hypocritical, there's absolutely no reason for a kid to go [to college], because he's not going to class [and] he's actually not even able to take advantage of all the fun because the first semester he starts playing basketball. So if the goal is just to graduate to the NBA or be an NBA player, go to the D-League."
"We can get rid of all the hypocrisy and improve the education," Cuban said. "If the whole plan is just to go to college for one year maybe or just the first semester, that's not a student-athlete. That's ridiculous."

Long been in agreement on the absurdity of the one-and-done rule.
As it stands now, I think the D-League isn't an attractive enough option. But the way Cuban envisions it, it's got real potential. I think more intriguing would be basketball-specific academies where kids can go for one, two years (whatever required by the NBA) and really get the development skills they need -- not just for hoops but for life. If they could find a way to incorporate some legit competition into those academies, it'd be an ideal option, and I think it could surpass the college option.

I agree completely and that sounds like a fantastic idea. I really don't see the point of having universities waste scholarships year after year to guys who are gonna be leaving after one year and not give it to the guy who plans on staying four years and who needs it. Tuition is expensive everywhere anymore so they really do need to implement something differen that benefits the one and dones and the true student athletes.

Yep. The NBA needs to toss some more money into it, but it seems like it would be a wise investment that would help both their product and the kids. The current system is an exploitative joke. I don't understand why MLB has a legit minor league system, but the NFL/NBA can't figure it out. Probably too much money/pressure in televising college b-ball and football. College baseball doesn't have that kind of pull.

Ben Gordon was waived by the Bobcats today, is it too late for him to sign with a team and be eligible for the playoffs?

@DomFerreri: "@JeffGurt: Joakim Noah is the first center with 14 assists in a game since at least 1986."

Yeah, one day late.
Damn thats cold blooded by the Cats but a smart move to keep him away from their playoff competition.

Some were also speculating that Gordon wouldn't give back any money, so there was no motivation for Bobcats to appease him.

I'm not sure they're going to win another game this year.
