Nope...it will be called admitting a mistake they made last year.
There were strong rumors few days back that Houston has a pretty decent shot at landing Dwight Howard. This is in response to that.

Somehow I dont see Dr. Buss doing this. He would just meet with him, tell him that he would like him to stay, and that would have been it. No stupid billboards, no begging, just straight talk.
Imagine the word on the street...Buss Jr. took over and after his first year in complete charge - a top 5 FA left $20M+ on the table to join another team. That's a slap in the face and he's tryin' everything he can to avoid this humiliation, IMHO.
Personally, I don't think it's a big deal. They can play out a year, clear up the locker room and get 'Melo and another top FA next year and quickly contend.
It probably would be the best thing to let him go. I just dont know about living and dying with Dwight Howard.
They probably learned from some source that Dwight doesn't feel wanted enough.
What's really hilarious in all of this is - Orlando put up the billboards and he still demanded a trade, yet somehow Lakers think this is a smart strategy.

Naah...it's the only logical explanation of keeping D'Antoni on after last season.

I never wanted D'Antoni, but even Phil came out and said that he did a helluva job last season after coming in and taking over a downtrodden team ridiculously riddled with injuries from start to finish. Every starter missed major chunks of the season, minus Kobe (although he suffered the season ending injury right when the playoffs started). I don't want him, and never did, but I can see why they might want to give him a fair shot.

I don't watch every Lakers game so you'll know a LOT more than I could. But, from the few games I watched...it didn't really seem like Lakers were employing D'Antoni's offense (his biggest asset)...and I read some quote about Kobe tellin' Pau to ignore D'Antoni.
Also, there are rumors that Dwight doesn't want to play under D'Antoni.
If Lakers are not going to employ his offense (they really can't if they have Dwight and Pau) and he doesn't care for defense, I don't know what's the benefit of having him on the bench.

LaMarcus Aldridge has wanted out of Portland since the last week of the Trail Blazers' season and did not re-sign sponsorship deals in Portland this past year, including agreements with Cadillac, Chevy, and Providence Hospital while asking to get out of a lease on his Pearl District condo.
Aldridge tried to put a clause into his lease that he will not have to pay penalties if he was traded.
"This is why I hate being in Portland,'' Aldridge said during the last week of the season. "You can't do anything.''
According to the report, Aldridge would not only welcome a trade from the Blazers, but he hopes for one, believing the city is too boring and small.
Neil Olshey said he sympathized with the constant change Aldridge has gone through with the Blazers, but the GM was adamant he would not be shopping the All-Star forward.
"Well, I'll tell you this: I'm not going to be making any phone calls to move him,'' Olshey said. "But if the phone rings and it makes the team better ...''

f**k Dwight Howard. Such a prima donna. If the Lakers are unable to sign him, they will just sign some other sick FAs in the near future.
A lot of Laker fans and media are suprised by the billboards. I'm sure Dwight loves it. He loves having his ego stroked.

The talks are centering around a package that would include Gerald Wallace, Tomike Shengelia, the expiring deal of Kris Humphries and three future first-round picks, sources told Y! Sports.

Deron Williams
Joe Johnson
Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett
Brook Lopez
Team would've been great 3 years ago
Now it's more Deron + the all washed up team
